For hair drying and straightening, long trips to the saloon can be very expensive. To get sleeker hair at home, you can follow these 10 tips.

  1. 1. Pick the right flat iron: All flat irons don’t work well. You should do your homework before buying any flat iron. The iron should be of large ceramic plate and a high heating setting if you have un-manageable, curly hair. The hair will straighten according to the higher watt. You should have an iron with average heat setting and medium sized plate if you have brittle, fine hair.
  2. 2. Turn up the heat: Your hair will get flat according to the higher heat setting on your flat iron. But fine and brittle hair can be damaged by high temperatures. So, the heat should be adjusted according to the texture of your hair.
  3. 3. Prep: must be done a day in advance because it is the most important step in hair straightening. To get best results, pour 1/3 cup cold milk in a spray bottle and until they get very damp, keep spray all over hair. Leave your hair for 10 minutes after brush the milk into your scalp using a brush or a wide tooth comb. In a normal way, thoroughly wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner and then dry them with towel. Overnight, leave hair to air dry and the following day, straighten them by an iron.
  4. 4. Divide: To get best results, hair should be divided into 6 sections. 2 in the back, 2 in the front and 2 in the middle.
  5. 5. Comb: For prevention of fly aways, comb each section before straightening. Don’t let your hair be in knots.
