Trainer Kit Rich was just a woman trying yet another extreme, crazy or unhealthy diet in order to lose weight before she became a Pilates instructor to the stars. She recently told that she tried everything and also suffered from body dysmorphia and eating disorders. She was desperate to lose weight and thus do those freaking crazy juice diets like other women do. But these and other extreme things brought her to the other extreme.

Kit finally hit on her problem after years of yo-yo dieting. In a way that wasn’t sustainable, she was working out. She has one solution that helped her lose 30 pounds weight and which she shares with her students still today, whether she’s going on tour with a musician client or teaching a private class in LA. Make it manageable is her tip. Kit says that specifically her mantra of ’30 minutes or 3 miles every day’ helped her finally keeped the pounds off for good and break free from weight fluctuations. As in: do a 30-minute workout OR run, walk or hike your way to 3 miles a day. She says that anything extreme is not long-lasting and she believes whole-heartedly that middle road is the way to go.

When she was trying to lose weight, this manageable mantra helped keep kit from burning out on her workouts, as a former athlete. She said that you can’t tell her to go and take some crazy bootcamp class as she came from a background of injury and she had knee surgery. When her knee will start to her that will make it happen for her to freak out and she’d not be able to do that for all her life. She said that it’s better to tell yourself that do every day something little, which will help you get your weight-loss goal and get a hold of your health. She added that women need to do something that they can have a grip on and can enjoy. That’s the reason she believes in this 30 or 3 rule.
