By drinking two cups of water before each meal, you can drop more weight with speed. It is known that drinking before meals can help to lose weight. Behind this recommendation, the theory is that you eat less during mealtime as your gut fill-up by water and it leads to consumption of fewer calories during day. Now, this theory could be back up through the evidence of a new study.

The participants of this study were obese or overweight and between the ages of 55 and 75. They were given low-calorie diet (1500 calories for men and 1200 calories for women) by the researchers. Then they were divided in two groups of control or water. The control group was only given low-calorie diet while the water group was given 16 oz. of water before every meal.

Both groups lost weight because both were consuming fewer calories. After a 12-week period, it was evident that water group lose weight much faster and 44% more than the control group that didn’t drink water before meals. The difference was more evident at the beginning of the study which shows that the speed of weight loses having water before meals weakens with the passage of time.

Only 41 people were included in this study which is an important point. But even then, the results are very important. Here are few suggestions to success through this tip.

Only water should be used before meals. Your goal of reducing weight can be slowed down or stopped by the use of sodas, juice and sports drinks as they add extra calories. Diet drinks are also not a good option as according to few evidences, they make the brain of consuming more sweets and can also contribute bone lose by depleting calcium from them.

Get a 16-oz bottle and keep it in your sight so that either it is on the refrigerator, on your office desk, or at any place which will remind you to drink water before you eat your meal.

To add flavor in case you dislike the flavor of water then you can add 2 tbsp. of lime juice or lemon. You can also add a pint of juice if you like.
