Lionsgate announced today that in the upcoming parts 1 and 2 of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay films, Moore is indeed to set play the role of Alma Coin. Good news for our imaginations, we’ve been picturing her in the role on the regular, considering since this rumor broke. (Los Angeles Times)
We have got a great fix for you, in case you’re obsessed with The Hunger Games and are required to freak out over any casting rumors. Rumor has it that Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence, as the latest addition to the Star-studded cast list, are gunning for Julianne Moore. Moore will play the role of Manipulative District 13 leader, Alma Coin, in Mockingjay, if she agrees.
This would put Moore in the two final Hunger Games films. Having just won an Emmy for her performance as Sarah palin in the HBO movie Game Change, everyone’s favorite redhead is on a bit of a winning streak lately. In the upcoming Jon Don, she’s also starring with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson.
We think Moore might be just right to pull of this complex character, as there’s no doubt that she is quite versatile. It’s not easy part to play, ruthless and under-the-radar representation of all that’s wrong with The Capitol. But is she the right woman for the job?
