Demeulemeester was born in 1959 in Belgium. She got admission in Antwerp’s Royal Academy and passed her graduation in 1981. She was a part of now-legendry Antwerp six group of designers.

She set up her own brand in the fashion industry in 1985 with the cooperation of her husband Patrick Robyn for whom she told time and again that he was her biggest influence and he also helped her to exhibit her first womenswear show in Paris in 1993. She exhibited menswear collection in 1996. As she liked black color and also wore black color dresses so her collection indicates her deep love with black with surprising look. She was popular as a important person of the deconstruction era of fashion during late ‘80s and ‘90s.
As the fashion industry had not attraction and charm, then Demeulemeester started to design her unique dresses in exclusive style which flourish with the passage of time. It is amazingly described that the designer adopted her line and got ready footwear and other items successfully and her designed items are now sold in more than 30 countries of the world. She continued designing dresses in high quality, natural materials, leather, wool and flannels, synthetic fabrics and her poetry mix of edgy rebellion and all these qualities produces an ever impressive design suitability.
