It’s easy to argue that to catch a break, Fashion Week is a tough place. It’s difficult enough to creating a cohesive, imaginative collection that’s also sellable but you also have to weave the right story with your garments, attract the right editors and sell to the right buyers. And don’t think that a wave of Anna Wintour’s wand is all you need to make this happen. To even arrive at the tents, it takes a lot of time, cash and connections.
But the help should come if you’ve got the talent. With New Orleans-based designer Amanda deLeon, we’ve recently fallen in love, and during this February’s New York Fashion Week, she’s hoping to put on her first-ever presentation. With the rest of the crowd, her collection is already on pace. The goth-gone-schoolgirl, darkly seductive pieces, we love seeing in the up and coming designers, are stellar and full of the kinds of irresistible personality.
However, she needs a little cash behind her to get there. To fund the unromantic parts of her very romantic collection, DeLeon has set up a Kickstarter to raise the money. There are 10 days left to go and so far, she’s raised $1,152 of her $ 7,500 goal. To find out more, venture onward to the ‘Kickstarter’.
