On the August issue of Vogue, the appearance of Victoria Beckham on the cover was not the first one but it was absolutely new for hairstylist Tina Outen. Outen worked with Beckham several times and time to time travel abroad with her and it was seen Outen creating the kind of luxurious styles that we’re covering in the first Vogue cover shoot experience for her.
She told that they wanted an ease to the look as Victoria likes to touch her hair and play with them. For the good of the final picture, she’s always willing to experiment and try new things. She enjoys letting people work their fashion experience on her and she also understands fashion. She’s absolutely behind the team and their creative work.
To create looks that would add the easy, outdoorsy feel of shoot, Outen closely worked with Beckham, Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers, make-up artist Val garland and photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The key ingredient appropriately was rain. She said that due to absolutely beautiful makeup by Val, each look evolved very naturally and the hair wasn’t at all planned rigidly. She likes to create a very ‘done’ look and then mess it up basically and it became very easy due to raining. She made the hair almost sterile and perfectly clean by starting blow-drying and toggling the hair. Undoing the do by breaking the style down with an olive oil cream and water is the thing she did for the shoot and would like to do next with Victoria.
The perfect style for the shot was possible due to the spontaneous decision to twist the hair of designer into an untidy chignon for the cover where Beckham was pictured holding Digby, pet dog of Chambers.
She said it was just about to put it up, pin it and play around with it to make it right for her face that took probably less than a minute. Victoria knows what suits her as she’s familiar with her face very well but she’ll let you do your job as she’s very trusting and respectful. They approached the hair for all of the shots by literally created by her getting dressed, getting her hair laid in the coat and giving it a finish then. They just got the right texture, see it in the mirror and let it evolve by itself.
