Even though we’re well into the summer season, celebrities have been favouring one trend that’s just as sizzling as the weather, leather dresses.

Typically leather dresses have been worn by celebrities in basic black (see Angelina Jolie) but this time around fiery shades of red, orange and burgundy have joined the roster.

Despite this being such a provocative trend, these stars show us there are different styles to choose from to suit your personal tastes.

Kristen Stewart kicked off the trend back in June at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards dazzling in a edgy Balmain mini dress with safety pins as embellishments.

Brooklyn Decker also went strapless in a Jay Ahr dress in a deep rouge colour to the 2011 ESPY Awards.

Despite the fact that she naturally oozes sex appeal, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was very sophisticated in her Marios Schwab lace trimmed leather halter dress.

Jennifer Aniston took a typically safe approach in Celine. Whilst Blake Lively and Elizabeth Banks opted for bold hues for their skin-tight leather minis.

The key to pulling off this look is definitely confidence. Choose a knee-length version for a more covered up look like Blake or Rosie and opt for simple accessories in neutral colours á la Jennifer and Elizabeth, if your style is more conservative.

However, if your personal style is more on the wild side go all out by adding a slick of red lipstick and sexy spiked pumps for a seriously sultry look.
