A new world record was made in Hong Kong when an 8.5 carat pink diamond was auctioned for $17.8 million. Before that, a 5 carat diamond was auctioned in Hong Kong for $10 million in 2009. But this new auction has broken the previous record. There were very few buyers in the hall during auction due to current political situation in Hong Kong.
