We are already seeing criticism on Michelle Rodriguez’s upcoming film while the film will release in 2017.
On Wednesday, a Hollywood reporter broke the news that Rodriguez will participate in a thriller movie “Tomboy” in which an assassin had to face gender reassignment surgery.
It is told in the movie description that Hill has written the script of the movie from Denis Hamill’s story. The film revolves around a top assassin who is double-crossed by gangsters and the assassin falls in the hands of “The Doctor”, a rogue surgeon who transforms him into a woman. Now this transformed woman sets to take revenge while she was aided by a nurse (Johnnie) who has her own secrets.
The premise of the movie is not welcomed by GLAAD which has the opinion that the transgender community will dislike the movie.
GLAAD’s Director of Programs for Transgender Media Nick Adams says that they haven’t read the full script yet but it is unacceptable that a life saving medical procedure for transgender people is used by the filmmakers to make a sensational plot. He added that they have just managed to make people understanding about the transgender issues while negative effects will be produced on this topic by film stories like these.
According to a site, filming of “Tombay” will start from 9th November in Vancouver.
