Sydney Fashion Week debut was recently made by Alexander McQueen through Thomas Puttick. Well stitched feminine styled dresses in summer suitable dresses. There were several important things apart from clothes in this collection.

The label has presented diverse and inspirational women in its Resort 2018 collection as it is known to present a positive future in fashion. This diversity in age, size and ethnicity was shown by the presence of Australia’s first Muslim female federal parliament member, Anne Aly. The walk also showcased Sierra Leone’s refugee Aminata Conteh-Biger and musician Sarsha Simone.

Just before Aly’s appearance on the ramp, the politician was falsely accused of absence in “Anzac Day’ festivities. This day is celebrated to honor the Australian soldiers fought in WW1 and politicians participate in the ceremony. Right wing politicians blamed the Egyptian born politician for missing that event but it was wrong and seen as Australian Islamophobia. Aly said after the controversy that all of her decisions are not made by viewing them according to her religion but few people consider her only a Muslim and nothing else. She was looking a graceful modern woman on that ramp.

Apart from presenting diversity in the show, money was also raised during Puttick’s Resort 2018 for organization of “White Ribbon” that works for women while preventing men’s violence against them.
