The Milanese designer Stefano Pilati exhibited his first collection for Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche in October 2004. His collection was specified as cute4 polka dot mini dresses with tulip hemlines and waists with wide patent belts for which Pilati made his debut for both clean break fro the sexed-up vision which has been developed by Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche which was also a tribute to the collections of ‘80s by Saint Laurent himself. He has been retired from fashion industry in 2003.

Saint Laurent was born in Algeria in 1936. He was one of the most fabulous designers of the 20th century and numerous innovations and revolutions which he brought in fashion industry are on his credit including sheer clothing, le smoking, peasant-inspired designs, safari suits and pussy-bow blouses. He also embraced ready-to-wear fashion by exhibiting of his Rive Gauche shops in 1966.

During the year 1998, Alber Elbaz was selected as the designer of Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche by Saint Laurent and his business partner Pierre Berge. He was replaced by Ford after some years when Gucci Group Have bought the YSL ready to wear business in 1999. Ford departed from Gucci Group in 2004 and Pilati took place of him at YSL.

Pilati was bred in Milan where he was busy in sketching dresses and he was also busy in copying the Vogue magazine of his sister. In the starting years of 80s, he left the course in environmental design and got admission for internship at Nino Cerruti. Next coming years he was involved in the fashion industry and in 1993 his services were hired for menswear assistant at Giorgio Armani. After two years he joined Prada and started research and development work on textiles, Pilati was appointed as assistant designer in 1998 of Miu Miu menswear and womenswear. During 2000Tom Ford hired the service of Pilati as design director of Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche where he was also assigned the task of overseeing all product categories. He was also busy in iconic brand of French Fashion. Pilati was of the view that when he fell in love with fashion then it was quite clear that Mr. Saint Laurent was his master.
